O’Sax Sprouts is a fun, play-based introduction to beach volleyball for young athletes stepping onto the sand for the first time.


This program focuses on movement, confidence, and enjoyment of sport. Sessions are designed to help children feel comfortable in the sand, explore basic volleyball skills, and build positive habits around being active — all through games and age-appropriate activities.


Sprouts is about creating a great first experience with beach volleyball.

PROGRAM INCLUDES

  • Play-based, coach-led sessions designed for young children

  • Activities that build balance, coordination, and confidence

  • Introduction to moving and playing in the sand

  • Simple volleyball skills taught through games and exploration

  • A supportive, positive environment focused on fun and participation

SCHEDULE

JULY

  • 1 practice per week (45 minutes each)

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

  1. Register your athlete online (opens February 15th)

  2. Pay program fees at registration

  3. Attend weekly sessions throughout July

O’Sax Core is the primary training program at O’Saxman. Previously known as the Standard program, it’s designed for athletes who want to build strong fundamentals, improve their game, and train consistently in a positive, coach-led environment.


The program is open to athletes of all experience levels — from those new to beach volleyball to those preparing for competition. Training emphasizes technical development, game understanding, and confidence on the sand.


Athletes train in age-based groups, with courts organized by skill and readiness to ensure each athlete is challenged and supported.

PROGRAM INCLUDES

  • Coach-led beach volleyball training (2–3 sessions per week)

  • Technical fundamentals and gameplay development

  • Age-appropriate drills and competitive environments

  • Ongoing coaching feedback and support

  • 50% off entry fee for one O'Saxman Beach Tour event


Practice plans are developed by senior program leaders and delivered by qualified O’Saxman coaches to ensure consistent, high-quality training.

  • No weekend practices

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

  1. Register online and pay program fees (opens February 15th)

  2. Submit athlete sizing information before April 17th and have gear included in registration fees

  3. Training begins June 1st


Athletes interested in high-performance training opportunities may indicate interest in O’Sax Gold during Core registration.

O’Sax Minis is a foundational beach volleyball program for young athletes ready to move beyond introductory play and begin learning how the game works.


Minis focuses on developing strong movement skills, introducing volleyball-specific techniques, and beginning to apply those skills in simple game situations — all in a fun, supportive environment.


This program helps athletes build confidence on the sand while learning how to train, play, and grow as beach volleyball players.

PROGRAM INCLUDES

  • Structured, age-appropriate coaching in a positive group setting

  • Continued development of physical literacy and sand movement

  • Introduction to key beach volleyball skills, including passing, setting, attacking, and defense

  • Modified gameplay to introduce teamwork, decision-making, and competition

  • Coaching that encourages effort, confidence, and curiosity

JUNE TO MID-AUGUST 2026

O’Sax Gold is a high-performance, high-commitment training environment for athletes preparing for advanced levels of beach volleyball.


This program is designed for athletes who are ready to commit to higher training volume, focused preparation, and intentional development toward competitive goals such as provincial or national medals, post-secondary advancement, or elite-level play.


Gold training is accessed through the O’Sax Core program via tryouts and continuous evaluation, and offers a more intensive training experience for athletes who demonstrate readiness, commitment, and progression over time.

PROGRAM INCLUDES

  • High-performance beach volleyball training (3–6 sessions per week)

  • Advanced technical and tactical skill development

  • Competition-style training environments

  • Weekly strength & conditioning sessions

  • Weekly mental performance coaching

  • Ongoing feedback focused on performance, effort, and growth

  • Gear package for each athlete


Gold training is led by senior O’Saxman coaches, including Grant O’Gorman, Isabela Lima O’Saxman (maternity leave), Ben Saxton, and Camille Saxton.

SCHEDULE

JUNE

  • 3 practices per week (90 minutes each)

  • 1 strength & conditioning session per week


JULY & AUGUST

  • 5 to 6 practices per week, some double days (90 minutes each)

  • 2 strength & conditioning sessions per week

  • 1 sport science session per week (sport psychology or nutrition)

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

  1. Register for O'Sax Core and indicate interest in O'Sax Gold during the registration process (opens February 15th)

  2. Pay O'Sax Core program fees at registration

  3. Attend one tryout date* or submit a video application

  4. Selected athletes will be invited to participate in O'Sax Gold

  5. Pay the difference in cost between O'Sax Gold and O'Sax Core

  6. Training for O'Sax Gold begins June 1st

May 28th to 31st for U14, U15, U17, and U18-U24

June 1st to 2nd for U16


Athletes are evaluated holistically by the coaching staff, including:

  • Technical skill and physical readiness

  • Game understanding and decision-making

  • Work ethic, mindset, and commitment

  • Invitations to Gold are extended based on readiness and fit


Gold placement is dynamic. Athletes may be invited into — or moved out of — Gold training throughout the season to ensure the environment remains aligned with athlete development.
