SPROUT ICON

O'Sax Sprouts

A fun, movement-first introduction to beach volleyball

O’Sax Sprouts is designed for young athletes experiencing the sand for the first time. Training is play-based, age-appropriate, and focused on building confidence, coordination, and a positive connection to sport.

TRAINING FOCUS

  • Basic physical literacy and FUNdamental movement skills

  • Learning how to move, balance, and play confidently in the sand

  • Introduction to simple beach volleyball movements and concepts

  • Games and activities that encourage curiosity, creativity, and fun

WHO IT'S FOR

  • Young athletes new to sport or beach volleyball

  • Kids who learn best through movement and play

  • Families looking for a positive first-sport experience

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • A supportive, joyful environment

  • Coaches focused on confidence and participation, not performance

  • Preparation for the O’Sax Minis group through strong movement habits and comfort on the sand

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

  • O’Sax Sprouts is offered through seasonal programs.

  • Parents can register their athlete in available Sprouts programs during the registration window.

  • Sessions are designed to be welcoming and flexible — families can attend consistently without pressure for perfect attendance.

  • Sprouts is an introductory program focused on movement, confidence, and enjoyment of sport.

O'Sax Minis

Building confidence, skills, and understanding of the game

O’Sax Minis introduces more structured beach volleyball training while keeping sessions engaging and age-appropriate. Athletes begin learning how the game works and how skills apply in real play.

TRAINING FOCUS

  • Continued development of movement and coordination

  • Introduction to volleyball-specific skills: passing, setting, attacking, defense, and court awareness

  • Modified gameplay to teach decision-making and teamwork

WHO IT'S FOR

  • Athletes new to beach volleyball

  • Players transitioning from other sports

  • Kids ready for more structure while still learning through play

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Clear instruction in a supportive team environment

  • Emphasis on effort, curiosity, and learning

  • A smooth transition into O’Sax Core as athletes grow and mature

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

  • O’Sax Minis is offered through seasonal programs.

  • Athletes register for available Minis programs when registration opens.

  • The program is designed to support consistent participation while remaining flexible for family schedules.

  • Minis prepares athletes for future club training without requiring prior experience or long-term commitment.

O'Sax Core

Structured training for athletes who want to improve and compete (previously known as the Standard program)

O’Sax Core is the foundation of the O’Saxman Beach Volleyball Club. Previously known as the Standard program, it’s designed for athletes who enjoy the sport, want to get better, and are ready to train with consistency and purpose.

TRAINING FOCUS

  • Coach-led technical training and skill development

  • Age-appropriate drills and competitive gameplay

  • Training in age-based groups, with courts organized by skill level

WHO IT'S FOR

  • Athletes new to beach volleyball

  • Indoor players transitioning to the sand

  • Players seeking consistent training and competition preparation

  • Multi-sport athletes developing movement and game awareness

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Clear structure and consistent coaching

  • A positive, challenging training environment

  • Ongoing feedback focused on growth and confidence

  • A direct development pathway into O’Sax Gold based on readiness

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

  • O’Sax Core is offered through seasonal programs and serves as the primary entry point into the club.

  • Athletes register for Core during open registration periods and are placed into age-based groups, with training environments adjusted by skill and readiness.

  • Attendance expectations support development, but athletes are not required to attend every session to participate.

  • Core provides the foundation for continued training and progression within O’Saxman.

O'Sax Gold

Selection-based high-performance training accessed through O’Sax Core

O’Sax Gold is a high-performance, high-commitment training environment designed for players who want to train with greater intensity, pursue strong competitive results, or explore post-secondary or elite pathways.

TRAINING FOCUS

  • Advanced technical and tactical skill development

  • Higher training volume and competitive expectations

  • High-level gameplay that reflects real match demands

  • Integrated strength & conditioning and mental performance training

WHO IT'S FOR

  • Athletes ready for increased accountability and workload

  • Those seeking advanced training and competition experiences, including travel opportunities

  • Players pursuing high-level beach volleyball:

    • Provincial and national championship results

    • Post-secondary and NCAA opportunities

    • Youth World Championships and FISU World Championships

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • High-commitment training program

  • A focused, high-standard training environment

  • Training led by senior O’Saxman coaches, including Grant O’Gorman, Isabela Lima, Ben Saxton, and Camille Saxton

  • Smaller, competitive training groups designed to challenge and support athlete growth

  • Continuous evaluation and feedback

  • Clear expectations around effort, commitment, and preparation

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

  • O’Sax Gold is accessed through the O’Sax Core training group.

  • All athletes register for O’Sax Core and may indicate interest in Gold during registration.

  • Selection sessions take place during the first few days of training, and athletes are evaluated holistically by the coaching staff.

  • Gold placement is dynamic and may change throughout the season based on readiness, commitment, and development. Athletes may move into — or out of — Gold as the season progresses.

Note: O’Sax Gold has a higher program cost than O’Sax Core. Athletes who accept an invitation into Gold will be required to pay the difference.

O'Sax Pro

Elite training for athletes competing at the professional level

O’Sax Pro is the highest training environment within the O’Saxman Beach Volleyball Club. It supports athletes competing nationally and internationally who require individualized, performance-driven training.

TRAINING FOCUS

  • High-intensity, competition-focused sessions

  • Advanced technical and tactical refinement

  • Individualized feedback and performance planning

WHO IT'S FOR

  • Athletes competing on professional or international tours

  • Players with defined competition schedules and goals

  • Teams preparing for high-level competition

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Small, focused training groups

  • Training aligned with competition calendars

  • High-level collaboration with experienced coaches

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

  • O’Sax Pro operates through inquiry and invitation.

  • Training opportunities are individualized and built around athlete goals, competition schedules, and availability.

  • Participation is based on competitive experience and alignment with the training environment.

  • Athletes competing at the professional or international level — or those seeking advanced performance support — are encouraged to contact the club to discuss fit and availability.
